You've got one day on Maui and you want to spend it on a bike. Good call. The question is where to go, what to ride, and how to get set up without wasting half your morning figuring it out.
At Krank Cycles, we handle Maui daily bike rentals for every type of rider: road cyclists who want to climb Haleakala, mountain bikers headed to Makawao Forest Reserve, and everyone in between. Here's exactly what you need to know before you show up.
What You Get With Maui Daily Bike Rentals at Krank Cycles
Every rental at Krank Cycles comes with more than just a bike. You get a helmet, a repair kit, and maps with detailed routes and directions so you're not guessing once you leave the shop. Flat pedals are standard. Clipless pedals, protective armor, and backpacks are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so it's worth asking when you book.
We also give you real local knowledge. Our staff knows every trail and road route on this island and will point you toward the right ride for your skill level, your time, and the weather that day.
Which Bike Types Are Available for Daily Rental on Maui
Krank Cycles carries the largest fleet of road and mountain bikes available to rent on the island. You're not choosing from a small pool of worn-out machines. The lineup includes carbon road bikes, full-suspension mountain bikes, downhill bikes, and electric bikes (e-bikes).
We're an authorized dealer for brands like Santa Cruz and Specialized, and that quality carries through to the rental fleet. Whatever you're planning to ride, we've got a bike built for it.

Road Bikes vs. Mountain Bikes: How to Choose
If your plan involves pavement, a carbon road bike is the right call. These bikes are built for climbing and speed. The Haleakala summit climb is 36 miles of paved road with 10,000 feet of vertical gain. That's a route you want a proper road bike for, not a hybrid.
If you're headed to Makawao Forest Reserve or the Haleakala Skyline Trail, you want a full-suspension mountain bike. The Makawao trails include IMBA-built flow trails, singletrack, and a pump track. Full suspension handles that terrain far better than a hardtail, especially on descents.
Not sure which one fits your fitness level? Ask us. We'd rather spend two minutes helping you pick the right bike than have you return frustrated.
The Best Places to Ride With a Daily Bike Rental on Maui
One of the advantages of Maui daily bike rentals from Krank Cycles is that we sit at the hub of the two legal singletrack trail systems on Maui. You're not driving 90 minutes just to reach a trailhead.
Makawao Forest Reserve is the go-to mountain bike destination on the island. The reserve includes a flow trail called Pineapple Express, multiple singletrack options, a pump track, and climbs of roughly 800 to 900 vertical feet depending on your route. The Kihei location is 25 minutes from the forest.
Poli Poli State Park is another standout. It's the base of the Maui Skyline Trail and includes the Mamane Trail, Waikoa loops, and the Redwood Trail. Poli Poli rides work in almost any weather, which matters on Maui where conditions can shift fast.
For road riders, the Haleakala summit climb is a bucket-list ride: 36 paved miles from sea level to 10,023 feet. The West Maui Loop is another top-tier option for experienced road cyclists who want a coastal challenge.
How to Book a Maui Bike Rental by the Day
Booking Maui daily bike rentals through Krank Cycles is a four-step process.
First, choose your location: Mountain Shop (Makawao), Airport Shop (Kahului), or West Maui Shop (Lahaina). Each location has its own online booking portal.
Second, select your date and time. If you want that courtesy pickup the night before, factor that in when you select your window.
Third, pick your bike. The system lists available bikes by type and name. If you're booking more than one bike, select your date and size for the first bike, hit "next" without selecting a second bike yet, fill in your height, weight, and other details, and then continue. The FAQ on our rental page walks through this step in detail.
Fourth, confirm your size. We rent bikes from XS to XL, and from 46cm to 62cm for road bikes. Put your height and weight in the booking form and we'll have the bike set up and ready when you arrive.
